A Life Painted in Multicultural Shades: The Journey of a German-Honduran Artist
In a world that celebrates diversity, there are individuals who embody it more than others. Meet the artist whose life journey has taken her from the tropical landscapes of Honduras to the picturesque environments of Germany and now to the enchanting eastern coastal region of Sweden. Regina, a true representative of multiculturalism, has enriched her life through each unique chapter, embracing challenges with an open heart and an artist’s soul.
A Diversity of Cultures
Regina was born in the heart of Honduras, a country known for its lush forests and vibrant culture. Her early years in Honduras formed the foundation of her multicultural identity and set the stage for an adventurous life filled with art and exploration. Little did she know that her path would lead her to Germany, where she would spend a significant portion of her life.
Living in Germany led Regina to identify as both German-Honduran and Honduran-German, a testament to her deep connection to both cultures. This duality in her identity has not only shaped her as a person but has also become a powerful source of inspiration in her art.
A Life Without Borders
Regina’s life has been a journey across continents, and her experiences have enriched her in immeasurable ways. Her decision to move to Sweden with her husband Peter in April 2018 was the next exciting chapter in her story. The couple purchased an old, large house in need of extensive renovations. They wholeheartedly embraced the challenge and transformed a run-down structure into a cozy home.
Moving to a new country is an adventure in itself. Learning a new language and integrating into a new society are significant challenges. Regina, however, views these challenges as enriching trials in life. Each obstacle has only increased her desire to embrace the world with open arms and explore its artistic potential.
Regina’s Canvas of Life
Art has always been a guiding force in Regina’s life and has become her anchor in times of change and transition. The long, dark winters in Sweden awakened her creative spirit and ignited colorful ideas that took shape in breathtaking paintings.
Regina’s art takes two distinct yet harmonious forms. She skillfully creates contemporary modern art with oil paints on canvases, infusing her work with emotions and energy. At the same time, she captures the beauty of traditional and natural landscapes through delicate watercolor techniques, preserving the serenity of these environments.
But Regina’s art extends beyond the boundaries of traditional media. She integrates 3D design with aluminum materials from beverage cans and LED lights, creating captivating indirect lighting effects on some of her paintings. Her desire to experiment with new artistic techniques knows no bounds, and her self-taught expertise continues to evolve.
A Creative Journey Unfolds
In her studio and gallery exhibition, Svanhuset, Regina’s art takes center stage. Visitors to her gallery are welcomed with a fusion of cultures and a variety of artistic styles. Regina’s art speaks volumes about her journey and showcases the blend of her Honduran and German roots along with her newfound Swedish experiences.
As Regina’s life continues to evolve, so does her art. Her canvases tell the story of a well-lived life, where each brushstroke testifies to the incredible journey she has undergone. Her artistic soul knows no borders, and her work transcends the limitations of geography.
Regina, the German-Honduran/Honduran-German, is not just an artist. She is an embodiment of multiculturalism, a testament to the power of embracing diversity, and a reminder that life’s challenges can be the richest source of inspiration. Her journey is a living testament to the beauty of a life painted in multicolored brushstrokes, where every day is a masterpiece waiting to be created.

Personal Note:
I want to take this opportunity to thank my husband Peter Albexon for sharing his enthusiasm with me in developing the Zepeda-Albexon Art and the Svanhuset Konstgalleri projects.
He laughs and is supportive about most of my crazy painting ideas and the “Berlin style” gallery concept I imagine in my mind.
He is also the master of the handmade wooden floating frames around the canvases. Without him, the renovation and transformation of our beautiful home would have not been possible.
We both work hard and as a team to make our home, Svanhuset and the Svanhuset Konstgalleri, our precious gems.
We invite you to come over and visit us.
